Modern Polka Dot Cupcakes

I know it's been a while since I've posted anything and I am sorry about that. The bakery has been very busy with all of our Thanksgiving orders. But we are still doing other orders as well, such as these Modern Polka Dot Cupcakes. They looked too cute not to post.

These are called "modern polka dot" cupcakes. They are a modern polka dot design instead of a classic polka dot (does not have any holes in the polka dot circles). These cupcakes were for a special little girl's birthday. She picked out her favorite colors and we used those colors as the polka dot colors. They are the double vanilla cupcake with a whipped chocolate buttercream. The whipped chocolate buttercream has double the amount of chocolate that the recipe usually has. This was to give it a darker color so that the polka dots really poped.

Thanksgiving

Over the next two weeks we will be focusing solely on our orders for Thanksgiving. Please get your orders in as soon as possible and no later than the 19th. After Thanksgiving we will be showcasing our Christmas treats and will no longer be selling our Pumpkin Pie, Pecan Tarts and Pumpkin Tea Cakes. Sorry there won't be a lot of posts up until Thanksgiving because the bakery will be super busy. Stay tuned for our Christmas treats including a yule log and peppermint mocha cupcakes!

This is a chocolate fudge cake covered in buttercream. Purple ribbon is wrapped at the base of each cake. Overall it's a very simple design. The hydrangeas cascading down the side of the cake create a very elegant feel. This cake was created for a demo at a BECCA'S blue BAKERY table at a local event.

Star Wars Cake

This is a carrot cake with a cream cheese filling covered in fondant. Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and R2D2 are made out of fondant and completely edible. This cake was a surprise for my customer's husband on his birthday. Together we came up with the top of the cake being a replication of the fight scene between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. The sides of the cake are airbrushed to look like the galaxy. I hope he has a wonderful birthday-- may the force be with him!

Here's some close up images of the detail on the fondant figurines:
