Now that my own little girl is 2, I'm starting to get back into the swing of baking. I had so much fun making this little chocolate cake for my friend's daughter Kinley. All she wanted was a little chocolate cake just for her. Ya know what Kinley, that sounds wonderful! I think for my birthday I may want a little cake all for myself too, how yummy does that sound?! ;) The 4 cupcakes in the background are for my kids (hubby included) who were hungrily eyeing the chocolate cake. By the end of frosting it they were begging for a taste. Good thing I had planned for their needs. haha! I just had to give them a taste of the yumminess. The cake and cupcakes have a chocolate cake base and are topped with whipped chocolate buttercream. I used raw cocoa powder which gives it such a rich, deep chocolate flavor. So yummy! I hope Kinley loves her little cake :) And Happiest Birthday to you! xoxo

Raspberry Chocolate Cake
This cake was made with a little extra love for my little princess who turned 6. She wanted a Sofia the First themed cake. Sofia is an adorable little princess, so I thought I needed to come up with a cake fit for a princess....so basically I wanted an elegant cake. When I think of elegance I think decadent chocolate and roses. And I think this cake satisfies all requirements. It's a vanilla cake with a raspberry buttercream filling, covered in a chocolate buttercream that is then covered in chunks of milk chocolate. The white roses on top just finish it beautifully. Happy Birthday Princess! You are so very loved!

All animals and decorations on the cake are 100% fondant and completely edible. This cake was made for my son who turned 7. I love him so much and wish him a very Happy Birthday!

Lyn-Z & Travis Pastrana's Wedding Cake
I was very lucky to be able to do a wedding cake for Lyn-Z and Travis Pastrana. Their wedding cake is a red velvet cake filled with a whipped cream cheese filling. It's covered in buttercream flavored fondant. The fondant is hand made to resemble a specific plaid pattern. There are red and white edible sugar roses topping the cake. The bride and groom provided their own cake topper. Congratulations to Lyn-Z and Travis! May they have a very happy and blessed life together!

Beach Party
What beach party is complete without a sand castle?? And this sandcastle was only for the special boy turning 6. It was a lemon cake with vanilla buttercream, covered in fondant. The octopus and starfish are fondant and completely edible. The seashells are a mix of white and milk chocolate and very yummy.
These cupcakes were for the party guests. They are double vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream. The surfboards are sugar and completely edible.
I know that this birthday boy had a wonderful day because it was for my son....which is also why a 6 year old is requesting his "own" cake. I don't think that is a normal request. Although when you grow up and your mom is a baker- maybe your point of view is a little different- lol!

It's covered in a white buttercream flavored fondant and decorated with black fondant. The bride picked out the designs for each tier. The ribbons at the base of each tier matched the wedding party.
The bride and groom are made out of fondant and are completely edible. The groom is in his firefighter outfit and the bride is in her wedding dress.
I wish this couple many, many, many years of happiness and love!

Jack Skellington Cake in buttercream
This birthday cake is a chocolate cake filled with oreo crumbs and vanilla buttercream. The cake's theme was centered around the movie "The Nightmare Before Christmas". The character on the front is Jack Skellington. The quotes around the sides of the cake say "What's this? What's this?" and "I can't believe my eyes!" Both are memorable quotes from the movie and add to the overall effect of the cake. The X's around the top look similar to stitching seen in the movie. All of the cake decorations are done in buttercream.

Whimsical Birthday Cake
This is a chocolate cake filled and covered in vanilla buttercream. This birthday cake is special because of the words. Sometimes it's all about making it personal. It read " Mama & Granny Happy Birthday! I love you! Can we have "more cake" please?". It was very sweet and fun and the whimsical swirls on the cake just added to the theme. I hope they had a great birthday.

Ever wonder what the baker is doing when she's not baking??
Have you ever wondered what a baker does when she's not baking?? Sometimes I still end up baking, but other times I'm cooking, painting, venting, parenting, planning, crafting and blogging. For a peak into the personal life of a baker click here ....and maybe you'll see me talking about creating your cake or maybe I'll spill a couple of my baking secrets. Or I might just share a favorite wine or a favorite hang out place. It's not predictable, it's just my life.
